February, 2001, the Loose's arrived in Western Kentucky. When they visited the community of Cadiz, they knew they had found their new home. As empty nesters, with children grown, they found an “Itty Bitty” house to live in. The song, ‘Itty Bitty’ was popular at the time, and WKDZ radio faithfully played it as Doug & Cher sang along and fit 30 years of treasures into their house. Needless to say it was crowded.

They rented a storage locker and filled it up also. After hours of organizing and trying to find things in boxes, Cher, feeling nostalgic one morning amidst the clutter of boxes and memories, realized their antiques & collectibles needed to move on to a place where they could be appreciated more.

After much contemplation, the idea of a store came to mind. ‘How do I do it?’ she asked herself. “I am a wife, a mom, a momom, what do I know about running my own business? My parents owned shoe stores, perhaps I could do something like they did. After all, a lot of the things were theirs ….” she knew it would be extremely difficult to let go of the heirlooms, and yet, what good were they in boxes getting old and dusty with the possibility of being destroyed by nature and hoping it would be okay with her parents, she decided to sell them to people who could love them as they had through the years.
